What does this policy cover?

This policy applies to Stylish Font Generator and to every page on this domain. It explains what happens to your information when you open a page, type into a tool, or click an advert.

There are two very different things going on here, so it helps to separate them. The tools themselves collect nothing at all, and the advertising that funds the site works the way advertising works everywhere else on the web.

Does the text I type get sent anywhere?

No. Every generator on this site runs as a small script inside your own browser, so the words you enter are styled on your device and never travel to a server of ours.

We do not log them, we do not store them, and we never see them. You can disconnect from the internet after a page has loaded and every tool on it will still work.

Advertising scripts have no access to what you type either, because the input never leaves the part of the page that belongs to us.

What does the site store on my device?

When you press save on a style, that choice is written to your browser's local storage. It sits on your own device, it is not sent anywhere, and we cannot read it.

Clearing your browser data removes it, and so does the clear button inside the saved panel on any tool page.

Advertising partners may store their own identifiers separately, and the sections below explain what those are for.

How is this site paid for?

By advertising. The tools are free, there is nothing to buy, and adverts are what cover the hosting and the time spent writing and testing these pages.

Some pages may also carry affiliate links or a clearly labelled sponsored placement in future. Any such link is marked on the page it appears on rather than hidden away in a policy, and it never changes what a tool does or what we recommend.

What do the advertising cookies actually do?

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve adverts based on your previous visits to this website and to other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve adverts to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

In practice those cookies are used to pick an advert, to stop the same advert repeating at you all day, to measure whether an advert was seen, and to spot click fraud.

The information involved is usually your approximate location from your IP address, your device and browser type, and the pages you have visited. It is not your name, and we never receive any of it ourselves.

How do I turn personalised advertising off?

You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google at any time through Google My Ad Center, which is where the old Ads Settings page now lives.

To opt out of a wider list of vendors in one place, use aboutads.info or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page. Readers in Europe have the same choice through Your Online Choices.

Opting out does not remove the adverts, it makes them generic instead of tailored. Your browser settings can block third-party cookies entirely if you would rather go further, and the tools on this site keep working normally either way.

What happens if I am in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland?

Visitors from those regions are shown a consent message before personalised advertising cookies are set, delivered through a consent tool certified by Google.

You choose there whether to allow personalised adverts, and you can reopen that choice at any time from the link the consent tool leaves on the page. Refusing consent means you see non-personalised adverts and nothing else on the site changes.

Where we rely on a lawful basis for processing, it is your consent for advertising and measurement cookies, and our legitimate interest in keeping the site online and secure for the basic server logs described below.

What rights do readers in California and other US states have?

We do not sell personal information for money. Some US state laws still treat sharing data with advertising partners for targeted advertising as a sale, so we want to be plain about it rather than argue the definition.

If you are covered by one of those laws and want to opt out of that sharing, use the advertising opt-out links above and set your browser to send a global privacy control signal. You can also email us and we will confirm what applies to you.

Do you run analytics?

We may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool and the reporting that comes with an advertising account, both of which show us page counts and rough traffic sources rather than individual people.

Nothing in that reporting identifies you by name, and we do not attempt to link it to anything else. If we ever add a tool that changes this, it will be named on this page before it goes live.

What does the web host log?

The site is static and served by a hosting provider, and like any host it keeps standard access logs. These normally hold an IP address, a timestamp, the page requested, and the browser type.

Those logs exist to serve the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use them to build a profile of anyone, and we do not combine them with advertising data.

Is this site meant for children?

The tools are for a general audience and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under the age set by local law where that is higher.

Several pages here discuss games that younger players enjoy, so we treat advertising on this site in a way that is appropriate for a mixed audience and we do not request personal details from anyone. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, write to us and we will delete it.

What happens if I email you?

Your message and your email address sit in our mailbox so we can reply to you. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not pass your address to anyone else.

Ask us to delete the thread and we will.

What rights do I have over my data?

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data held about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent you gave earlier.

We hold almost nothing, so most of these requests are answered quickly. Advertising data sits with the networks rather than with us, which is why the opt-out links above are the fastest route for anything advertising related.
